CTIC celebrates 30 years in 2012. Since beginning in 1982 as the Conservation Tillage Information Center, our organization has remained true to our mission to champion and advance conservation agriculture. In this and future issues, we will bring you special articles and events to celebrate our conservation successes and reflect on three decades of growth.

CTIC Executive Director Karen Scanlon celebrates conservation with CTIC board members Rod Snyder (National Corn Growers Association) and Charlie Schafer (Agri Drain Corporation) at this year's Commodity Classic.

CTIC Celebrates 30th Anniversary at Commodity Classic
CTIC memorabilia and a Kindle Fire giveaway ignited interest and highlighted our long commitment to conservation.
From March 1 to 3, CTIC took its year-long celebration of the organization's 30th anniversary to Commodity Classic in Nashville, Tenn. The CTIC booth chronicled our three-decade commitment to promoting conservation, highlighting the innovative work of members and staff over the years. Many of the 6,014 Classic attendees – a record for the annual joint convention of the National Corn Growers Association, American Soybean Association, National Association of Wheat Growers and National Sorghum Producers – stopped by the booth to learn about agricultural conservation and take home a bit of CTIC history.
CTIC members dramatically extended the reach of the booth and added excitement to the experience by placing signs in their company or agency booths throughout the trade show, each highlighting details of a project they'd done over the years with the Center. Guests to the CTIC booth were encouraged to go on a Trivia Hunt around the trade show floor, racking up facts about those projects and programs.
Guests who completed the Trivia Hunt with correct answers were included in a drawing for a Kindle Fire e-reader. After the show, Lois Solberg of Violin, S.D. was drawn as the lucky winner.
"Commodity Classic was a great venue to reach out to growers and find a creative, new way to celebrate the member partnerships that have sustained CTIC for 30 years," says Karen A. Scanlon, CTIC executive director.
CTIC continues the anniversary celebration at the 67th Annual Soil and Water Conservation Society International Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, July 22-24. In August, CTIC will participate in the Agricultural Media Summit in Albuquerque, N.M., and then celebrate with many of our members at the Agricultural Retailers Association Fall Board meeting in Loveland, Colo., in September. See our 30th anniversary page for more information.
